Night 1 was amazing!

We’re still going through the fancy, fancy photos from the night (as we know our pals Steve Latham and Eric Law caught some great pics!), but we just could not wait to share our cell phone snapped photos with everyone.  Did you take pics at the show?  Share ’em with us on Facebook

or tag your Instagram with #crashsafely and we’ll share!

In the meantime, check out these pics taken by the Midway staff:

Are you ready for Night Two?

Kittehs! (I mean, posters!)

Have you seen the latest posters from Nicole Anguish at Daykamp Creative? Check ’em all out above!

We’re obviously big fans of cats.  If you head to the Crash Safely Instagram, you’ll see I’m not joking about that.  It’s possibly comprised of  75-80% cat photos.  Soon, you’ll be seeing these kittehs* all over  town.  Come up with creative names for them!  There may or may not be a prize in it for you for best cat name.

What do you mean “may?”

Speaking of prizes, Gibson started my morning off with a bit of a surprise.  I just happened to be home this morning when FedEx came around.  I wasn’t expecting anything, so I must have looked like I won the lottery when the delivery driver handed me this:

Well, the box that had this in it.

Well, the box that had this in it.

He was excited.  You’d think it was his guitar, he was so happy!  “That’s a great one,” he said, “beautiful color.  Enjoy!  Happy 4th!”

I did request a donation from Gibson, but I wasn’t expecting to hear back from them for a while.  I’ll take a surprise Les Paul delivery as confirmation that they want to help out! You’ll be able to bid on this beauty as the silent auctions are announced, and we’re planning on having this be something that will be picked up at one of the shows, so if you’re the lucky winner, you can start playing it immediately.  You could also take it with you to your studio time winnings as well, which we also keep adding to the list of winnable things.

*I know that's not how it's spelled.  It's cute.

Q BBQ!

Alright, fine- It’s a yard sale, technically, and there will indeed be BBQ.  Q Division’s Yard Sale is tomorrow and a bunch of Crash Safely folks will be there.

And we’ll be hungry!

I’ve been meaning to post about this for a while, now, but I just got a new computer and the monitor is, well… overwhelming. Everything I type looks like it’s appearing across the street from me, which is a little disorienting.

huge monitor

Go ahead, try to spell correctly!

The Q Yard Sale is a lot of fun, and at last year’s event, the fun started on the red line on my way there.  While I’m not looking for anything in particular this year (in fact, I’m looking to give someone some music), I will probably leave there with some treasures. Unlike last year, I’m not in the process of moving the shows from one venue to another or changing dates.  I am simply waiting for the first round of the artwork!

Should you be wanting a quick rundown, here are the details as they are today.  Keep in mind these shows are in September, so be flexible with your iCal, ok? Ticket links are on the way as well for most nights. It’s not even July. I’m organized, but I’m not quite that good. Go ahead and give me some cute names for nights 2 and 4 as well.

4 Nights. 3 Venues. 2 Weekends. 1 Cause- a Cure for MS!

See you in September!

MS Awareness Week

This week is MS Awareness week in the US.  You may have seen tweets that begin with “I CONNECT” and hashtagged with #MSConnection; that’s one of the ways this is manifesting this year.

In accidental concert with MS Awareness week, David Bowie released a new (amazing) record.  I bring this up for  4 reasons: 1) I’m listening to it right now 2) I love Bowie 3) So do many, many of the bands who are participating in Crash Safely this year 3) I had a revelation regarding one of the songs on the new record, called “Boss of Me.”  (No, it’s not a They Might Be Giants cover).

David Bowie The Next Day Album Cover

Shameless plug.

Look for a preview of the song here.

While there’s one interpretation of the lyrics, you could easily change the meaning of the “small town girl” becoming the “boss of me” to be…

well….

something like MS.
I am thinking of making a video for the song using that angle in a vague way.

First, however, I need to focus on guerrilla video shoots with John Powhida for the new John Powhida International Airport tunes.

JPo

Shameless plug 2.

I’ll be quite busy this weekend with JPo, and Pete Hayes is registering the Maybe Sump’MS for the 2013 bikeMS NYC ride.  Keep an eye out for links to join or donate to the team soon!
