Getting excited for Friday!!!

Maybe you heard that Petty Morals are up for a couple of Boston Music Awards. Maybe you want to get a head start on your Halloween trip by asking Tsunami of Sound to play the Munsters theme song.  Maybe you saw My Own Worst Enemy in the pages of Magnet.  Maybe you stalk the members of Gymnasium (face it- we’re onto you.  You’re stalking Rod right now, aren’t you?). You know they’ll all be at the Midway on Friday night, right?

That’s not enough for you? Maybe you need to win things. Things like tickets for the NY Skyride.  A Shake Shack gift certificate (which you can use at the one that makes your favorite french fries). A Store 54 gift certificate that you may think twice about redeeming, because it’s such a cool certificate. Photography by Pete Weiss. A gift certificate from Capital Genealogy to check out your dad’s claim that you’re descendants of the Queen of England. Tickets for two for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame + Museum that don’t expire.  An ArtsEmerson membership, including two tickets to any event for free.  More of a sports fan?  Try your luck at winning a Boston Bruins puck signed by  Zdeno Chára!

Feeling more like an auction? We’ve got that, too.

Auctions for studio time at places like Q Division, The Bridge Sound & Stage, Zippah, Peerless Mastering, Woolly Mammoth Sound, New Alliance and more.

A dinner cruise on Boston harbor with a hotel room. This one ends at 11pm on Friday……!

A 5 day/4 night Cancun vacation.

A Gibson Les Paul Future Tribute.

Want more info or to bid? Check out www.crashsafely.org!

And all of the money raised at the show goes to the National MS Society!!

The cost of admission to all of this? $10.00. Seriously! Will we see you Friday?

Meet the Hosts: Cotton Candy

Chances are, you still remember the words to all of those ads that ran in between your favorite Saturday morning cartoons.

For instance, if I started to say anything about Meow Mix, you may just start doing this:

It’s stuck in your head  now, isn’t it?  Fortunately, Cotton Candy understand.  This is their third year participating in Crash Safely, and this year, they will be hosting the second night of shows on 10/10.

They’ll not only host, but play some of your favorite jingles, including, yes, that Meow Mix song.  They’ve even made their own video for  their version:

See if they’ll take requests!  Grab your tickets and get ready for a fun night!

Kittehs! (I mean, posters!)

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Have you seen the latest posters from Nicole Anguish at Daykamp Creative? Check ’em all out above!

We’re obviously big fans of cats.  If you head to the Crash Safely Instagram, you’ll see I’m not joking about that.  It’s possibly comprised of  75-80% cat photos.  Soon, you’ll be seeing these kittehs* all over  town.  Come up with creative names for them!  There may or may not be a prize in it for you for best cat name.

What do you mean “may?”

Speaking of prizes, Gibson started my morning off with a bit of a surprise.  I just happened to be home this morning when FedEx came around.  I wasn’t expecting anything, so I must have looked like I won the lottery when the delivery driver handed me this:

Well, the box that had this in it.

Well, the box that had this in it.

He was excited.  You’d think it was his guitar, he was so happy!  “That’s a great one,” he said, “beautiful color.  Enjoy!  Happy 4th!”

I did request a donation from Gibson, but I wasn’t expecting to hear back from them for a while.  I’ll take a surprise Les Paul delivery as confirmation that they want to help out! You’ll be able to bid on this beauty as the silent auctions are announced, and we’re planning on having this be something that will be picked up at one of the shows, so if you’re the lucky winner, you can start playing it immediately.  You could also take it with you to your studio time winnings as well, which we also keep adding to the list of winnable things.

*I know that's not how it's spelled.  It's cute.

Crash Safely 2014 Lineup

If you head to the main page, you’ll see photos of (almost) everyone involved in Crash Safely this year. What you don’t see, however, are the dates and lineups.  Where would you find that info? Maybe even some ticket links, because you want to be sure to be there?

Wait for it...

Wait for it…

Right here.

Crash Safely Night 1: 9/27

Midway Cafe, 21+, $10.00

(aka the day after my birthday, so you should really go)

       Hosted by Jake Jampel

Crash Safely Night 2: 10/10

Midway Cafe, 21+, $10.00

      Hosted by Cotton Candy

Crash Safely Night 3: 10/17

(aka the Mike Oliver special)

Middle East Upstairs, 18+, $12.00

    Hosted by D-Tension

We’ve spaced out the shows more this year, and two of them actually happen after the bikeMS ride in NYC. Why’s that? I realized that we don’t have to get our donations all in on the day of the ride, and October worked out nicely for these shows.  Awesome posters are on the way from Daykamp Creative as well.

Also new for this year: vacation-type prizes in silent auction!  I figure by October, we’ll all be yearning for 90 degree weather, so a 5-day stint in Cancun for two might be a sought after prize.  There’s a hot date you can win as a mini-staycation, with a dinner cruise for two on the Odyssey and a hotel to stay in afterwards.  Lots of studio time as always, and lots more fun things coming in every day.

Q BBQ!

Alright, fine- It’s a yard sale, technically, and there will indeed be BBQ.  Q Division’s Yard Sale is tomorrow and a bunch of Crash Safely folks will be there.

Ronnie Lane

And we’ll be hungry!

I’ve been meaning to post about this for a while, now, but I just got a new computer and the monitor is, well… overwhelming. Everything I type looks like it’s appearing across the street from me, which is a little disorienting.

huge monitor

Go ahead, try to spell correctly!

The Q Yard Sale is a lot of fun, and at last year’s event, the fun started on the red line on my way there.  While I’m not looking for anything in particular this year (in fact, I’m looking to give someone some music), I will probably leave there with some treasures. Unlike last year, I’m not in the process of moving the shows from one venue to another or changing dates.  I am simply waiting for the first round of the artwork!

Should you be wanting a quick rundown, here are the details as they are today.  Keep in mind these shows are in September, so be flexible with your iCal, ok? Ticket links are on the way as well for most nights. It’s not even July. I’m organized, but I’m not quite that good. Go ahead and give me some cute names for nights 2 and 4 as well.
